UPDATE TO STORY BELOW:
Mom has found some work, but is still hitting the streets hard finding enough work to get her into at least housing so the children can have some family stability. She and the 2 children continue to live in shelter care while the father collects unemployment and continues to live in the familys past apartment. The father contributes no money for their care to this day. Phillips' mother who works for family services is paying for the laywer for her son, but is also not helping Chrystie and Phillips' children. Mom just needs to find a connection to help her get into a more stable enviroment, posibly public housing in the least, as she is hitting dead ends in that area. They tell her she needs more money to get into housing, although she is the only one working. ANY INFORMATION WILL GREATLY HELP HER AS SHE WANTS TO GET OUT OF THE GRIP OF POVERTY AND HELP HER CHILDREN.
MAIN STORY:
Antioch and Concord California Dept children and Family Services employee helps oust children to Streets
My daughter lives in Antioch, California. She is going through a divorce. Chrystie is her name and has two children (4y/o, and 1y/o). Her husband, Phillip Sargent also lives in Antioch. All of his family are from the area. Chrystie has no family in the area. Phillips mother lives in Concord and works for the Dept Children and Family services. After the break up, Phillip refused to leave the apartment and forced the mother and children to the streets and ended up at various shelters where she contginues to live with the 2 children. Phillip Sargent has been fired or has quit 3 jobs in the last few years, can not hold down a job. He continues on unemployment and lives in the same apartment as did during the marriage. Phillip had the opportunity to move in with an assortment of family members and allow his children to have a home, but he refused to do so. since the legal seperation, Phillip has not paid any money towards the childrens support, to their health and has not offered any assistance. The State of California has not forced this dead beat dad to assist in his childrens care, although they continue to pay his unemployment benifits. Phillips mother is assisting her son with laywers and living during this separation, and although she works for the California Dept of Children and Family Services, she allows the mother and 2 children to live in shelters as the divorce is progressing. California law clearly states that when parents are legally separated, the non-custodial parent(Phillip in gthis case), must begin support to the children through the DAs office. This has not been done in this case. It is also hard to believe that an employee of a childrens support department in California's jurisdiction is allowing her grandchildren to live in shelters while her deadbeat son is collecting unemployment and not assisting in the childrens care as they live shelter to shelter. What an atrocity!!! Hopefully someone out there reading this article can help or lend some information on helping these children become homeless or shelter children just because the local and state government allow it to happen.
